Tips for Picking a Color

Picking a color can be tricky!
Picking a Color can be Tricky!

Choosing the right cabinet paint color can significantly impact the overall look and feel of your kitchen or any other space with cabinets.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you pick the perfect color:

  1. Consider the Overall Style: Think about the style and mood you want to achieve in the room. Are you going for a classic, contemporary, modern, or rustic look? The cabinet color should complement the overall style.
  2. Assess Your Space: Take note of the existing colors and materials in the room, including the countertops, backsplash, flooring, and wall paint. You want the cabinet color to harmonize with these elements rather than clash with them.
  3. Lighting: Consider the natural and artificial lighting in the room. Lighter colors tend to make a space feel more open and airy, while darker colors can add drama and coziness. Test paint swatches in different lighting conditions to see how they appear throughout the day
  4. Sample Paint Swatches: Narrow down your options to a few colors that you like and obtain paint swatches or samples. We will provide you with a large (10 x 10) swatch of the colors that you are considering. Even though it may be tempting, DO NOT test the paint on your cabinets:  You can tape the swatches to your cabinets and this will allow you to see how the color looks on the actual surface and how it complements the other elements in the room.
  5. Consider Undertones: Pay attention to the undertones of the paint colors. Some whites may have warm undertones (yellow or beige), while others may have cool undertones (blue or gray). Similarly, other colors may have undertones that affect how they interact with the room's other colors.
  6. Think about Longevity: Consider how timeless the color is. While trendy colors can be appealing, they may quickly become outdated. Opting for a classic, neutral color for your cabinets can ensure that they remain stylish for years to come.
  7. Get Second Opinions: If you're having trouble deciding, seek input from friends, family members, or design professionals. Sometimes an outside perspective can offer valuable insights.

By following these steps, you can confidently select a cabinet paint color that enhances the aesthetic of your space and reflects your personal style.
